The EDI 835 transaction set is most commonly used by healthcare insurance plans to make payments to providers or provide Explanations of Benefits (EOB’s), or both. The EDI 835 File also referred as era files in the industry.
EDI 835 ERA file may contain one or checks information in one single file. This business scenario is very normal in the EDI Transactions
Following steps will help to identify whether ERA File contains information about one check or multiple check payment.
1. Download Notepad ++
2. Open the ERA File in the notepad++.
3. If the file content are already shown as line by line, then skip the next step.
4. If the entire file content are shown in single line, then this link will help you to break into lines
5. Search for Text BPR. Each BPR is a check and information next to BPR contains the payment information.
